Jane Bucci

Cover is by Jane Bucci of Springfield, winner of this year’s Capital City Visitor cover art contest, which drew more than 40 entries. Bucci and others who competed were honored at a reception March 21 at the Old State Capitol, where cash prizes were awarded to the winners.

Bucci says she cannot remember a time when she did not draw or paint. As a young child she studied at the Springfield Art Association.

She graduated from Lincoln Land Community College and won a creative arts grant from Illinois State University in Normal, then used it to gain her bachelor of arts degree.

Jane works as a freelance illustrator and has had work commissioned by many Illinois historic entities: Lincoln Tomb & War Memorials, Lincoln Monument Association, Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices, Jubilee College State Historic Site and others. Her work is also featured in Acrylic Works 2, where she talks about her painting technique.

She makes her home in Springfield with her husband, Mark Suszko, and their children, Ryan, Aron and Gina. Her mother is Evelyn Ryan Bucci.
